This past weekend I went to Nags Head, North Carolina with a group of girls for a good friend’s bachelorette party. I was still posting on Instagram (of course), but it was nice to disconnect from the laptop for a few days.
Everyone got in on Friday night and we all just hung out at the house. Saturday morning we headed to the beach bright and early and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The water was extra choppy so swimming was off limits, but we went on walks, played games, ate lunch, drank a few drinks and chatted. It was so nice just to relaxing and soak up a little vitamin d… especially since this will probably be my last chance to go to the beach before fall arrives.
The whole gang after a full day at the beach. Don’t mind my crazy hair.
I brought Mindy Kaling’s book along for something to read while on the beach. Isaac and I watch her show, The Mindy Project, and I think she’s hilarious so I figured the book would be good. And it is! I highly recommend it — it’s LOL funny and the book is broken down into short chapters, which makes it great for summer reading.
Bride-to-be! I’m so excited for her wedding this fall.
After being at the beach all day, we were all craving a cool treat so we headed to Rita’s for water ice and custard. I ordered a kid’s size with s’mores ice and coffee custard. I had never been to a Rita’s before and it was tasty, but I still think I’m a good ol’ ice cream or fro yo girl at heart.
All the RVA girls with the bachelorette before heading out for dinner and dancing on Saturday night.
We went to Sugar Creek for dinner and then to OBX Brewing Station for dancing. They were having a black light party, equipped with glow sticks and a DJ. DJs can be hit or miss, but the DJ on Saturday night was awesome — she played old school hits mixed in with new pop/hip-hop favorites. The music kept us on the dance floor all night and we probably danced for 2-3 hours straight. Perfect late-night workout.
A quick shot of the sunset from the dock on Saturday night. I think sunsets are so mesmerizing and beautiful.
Sadly, we all had to head back home on Sunday morning to get ready for the week ahead. Back to real life!
Overall, it was such a great way to spend the weekend. All the girls were laid back and we had an amazing time. I highly recommend a beach bachelorette weekend (or a wine tasting tour) if you’re planning one for yourself or a friend. It was a blast.
Have you ever been to a bachelorette party?
